Appleseeds Innovative Tech-Learning Bootcamp

We are extremely proud to announce that Appleseeds recently won a tender from the Israel Innovation Authority (the government's tech investment arm) to run our innovative coding bootcamp. Our bootcamp will address the talent crunch felt across the local tech industry by specifically targeting populations in Israel's geographic and social periphery. The Appleseeds Campus and Hub will be the address for this innovative bootcamp where participants will partake in an intensive multi-month “full stack” bootcamp (frontend and backend technology development). Participants will engage in the intensive technology-training program and applied learning process, after which they will be placed in jobs in the technology sector and will become mentors and role models. The technology curriculum is market-oriented and geared towards job placement, developed with CTO’s and HR managers from leading companies including Outbrain, Brightcom, and Inneractive.

Woven into the formal learning process are hackathons and meetups organized by Appleseeds, where current participants and bootcamp alumni can learn about cutting-edge topics and network with each other and industry leaders. Furthermore, participants will be placed in internships with various technology companies and have the opportunity to put their new skills and knowledge to work, while building interpersonal networks that will assist them in their future careers. Appleseeds will serve as a guide for both participants and employers, steering both parties through the process to ensure a smooth transition out of the classroom and into the workplace.

Important Partnerships and SEEDS Success

SEEDS 3 Participant Pitches his idea

Making Our Partnerships Count:

In preparation for the establishment of the first technological Hub in Ramle, which will be a co-op work area for young entrepreneurs. Appleseeds hosted an important tour for the Director General of the Ministry for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev and Galilee Ariel Mishal, Ramle Mayor Michael Vidal, and the Municipality's Director Ronen Azaria.The Hub will be housed in a building that was recently renovated by Appleseeds through the support of the Wohl Foundation, Bezeq, Cisco, Keren Hayesod, the Weinberg Foundation and the Ramle municipality. The project, which was developed in partnership with the municipality of Ramle and Negev Galil, constitutes another breakthrough in deepening the activity and strengthening the local technological ecosystem. We pride ourselves on our technological employment program graduates and are very excited about our future alumni!

SEEDS:

Our third SEEDS Technological Entrepreneurship Program wrapped up at the end of March. SEEDS which is in cooperation with Pelephone offers Net@ participants and graduates advanced entrepeneurship training. We have created a comprehensive entrepreneurship track that brings together learning alongside hosting at leading high-tech companies, and mentoring from industry leaders. The program taps into the creative potential of Net@ participants and Alumni, nurturing creative skills and outside-the-box thinking providing the necessary skills-set and confidence to become entrepreneurs and take their start-up ideas to the next level.

The program components include: high-tech industry instructor guidance and real time global case studies, industry leaders as guest speakers, high-tech company site visits, leaders in the high-tech field as mentors to participants, experiential group start-up projects and a final project winner.

During the final SEEDS 3 seminar, innovatve SMART projects were presented in conjunction with IOT including an an EdTech project that provides student-tailored questions based on past and peer data, smart queue management for service providers, and an online clothing purchase initiative using AR technology. The event was attended by Dafna Lifshitz, CEO of Tapuach, Koby Nazri, Board Member of the Tapuach Foundation, WeEndeavor Founder and CEO, Ronen Nadler of Pelephone, Guy Margalit of the Library, Shani Rabba, Shmulik Miller and Osnat Stern, Program Director.

Two Great Programs: Seeds and Startech

SEEDS 3 Cohort

STARTECH:

At the beginning of December the Startech Mobile App school participants worked with 4 high tech experts on a Code Review exercise in which they put into practice all that they had learned over the course of the program. Participants received expert feedback on their coding while experiencing part of the interviewing process that is common to the high tech industry. the high tech experts were from Wix, Sears Israel and Inneractive and we can't thank them enough for the time and effort they put into our Mobile School.

December 21 makret the final session of the Mobile School led by Sears Israel. At the final session, participants learned important skills such as networking, CV wriiting and interviweing skills tailored for the high-tech industry from two highly talented Rhodium leaders. Following the employment workshop, participants received their Startech Mobile App School Certificate of Completion.

This was our first ever Mobile App School and we want to extend a very special thanks you to Sears Israel for helping to create an ever adapting and relevant curriculum. Thank you to the amazing instructors from cutting edge companies who taught and mentored our participants. Finally, good luck to all our participants!!!!

We are excited to being our next Startech School, the DevOps school whcih will start in the next month.

SEEDS III:

The SEEDs technological entrepreneurship program, in partnership with Pelephone, kicked off at the beginning of November at the Pelephone offices, in the presense of senior executives from Pelephone, Appleseeds' CEO Dafna Lifshitz and Board of Directors member Kobi Nizri. The goal of the progam is to provide tools for young entrepreneurs from all over the country, who will develop innovative technological ventures in the coming months, will be exposed to the Israeli entrepreneurial world and will gain an understanding of the fast paced challenges in the industry. The program is comprised of 14 young entreprenuers; incuding 10 Net@ graduates and 2 Tech-Career graduates.

On December 21, the SEEDS III participants gathered for a Hackathon at the Brightcome offices. The program began with al lecture on innovation and entreprenuership by Sagi Ben-Zidaf, Brightcom's Vice President of Products and Technologies. Participants were then divided into 4 groups and brainstormed more than 100 solutions for different needs including smart public transporation, time management and technological tools to prevent theft of personal effects. At the end of the session, the groups chose one innovate and applicable solution that they will develop over the next few weeks.
