Girl child education in Kasese District has not been given the attention that is being enshrined in the plan of the Government of Uganda. There are semblances of the practice are in the nursery, primary and secondary schools and tertiary institutions that are operational in the District. Quite a number of these schools colleges and institutions are not providing gender responsiveness environment to empower the rural girl child to be independent and thoughtful in their education .
In rural Kasese,Uganda, the average student/pupil to teacher ratio is 80 to 1. Our partner schools are poorly supplied with resources and the majority of them are without electricity.Girls are literally left behind in the 21st century, struggling to keep up literacy levels and not being exposed to education, they lack education skills, and do not have access to good classrooms. They also face barriers including the lack of clean water , no lights at schools and few menstrual cycle options.
The purpose of this project is to promote girl child education and empowerment in rural schools and the community level in Kasese District. In Kasese the Literacy measurements and national test scores will improve. More students will graduate from primary and secondary school and be college ready. Students and teachers will be computer literate and gain 21st Century vocational skills for the marketplace. Pupils will access clean environment and classes.
