On May 8 2024, Proeducacion has reached its 27th birthday. We have been working for 27 years in making our mission statement a reality. We have been improving the quality of education that our children receive in public elementary schools in Mexico through our Integral School Model whose main focus is the school community (parents, teachers and students) and our main goal is to generate trust and transform relationships between all members of the school community.
This first semester we had our seventh Family Encounter in the State of Morelos. Family is every child´s first school. Within our families, we generate our first affective bonds and we form our first values; if what children get in their first years from their family environment is love, values and good examples, they will continue to lead a healthy, positive lifestyle that will influence their community in a positive way.
To strengthen the bond between the school environment and the family environment, PROED created 7 years ago a Family Encounter. This year our focus was to promote gender equity within each conference and workshop, we imparted. Each conference was specially created for fathers and mothers, giving them a safe space in which they could interchange knowledge, experience and good at home practices in collaboration with the school.
On April 20, we hosted the Seventh Family Encounter in Morelos, with the participation of 62 parents from 5 Public Elementary Schools in Morelos. This Encounter was planned with courses, testimonies and workshops that promote Gender Equity, prevention of substance abuse, non violent environments at home and at school, assertive comunication between parents and students and between parents and the school.
This year the number of schools that we accompanny also grew, we are currently accompanying 124 public schools, three of them are middle schools. We are now in 10 states of the Mexican Republic, the new state where we have three schools is Tamaulipas, a Border State in the northern part of the country.
During this semester, we continued imparting our Gender Equity courses in all of our Human Development programs. In this way we close our 2023 – 2024 school cycle, hoping that our Evaluation and the results from our evaluation will allow us to keep working in the enhancement of Gender Equity in our 124 Public Elementary and middle Schools in Mexico.
