Promote Youth Mental Health in Puerto Rico

Project Update: October 2026

While Fields of Joy Foundation has not been able to raise significant funds through GlobalGiving to support the expansion of its Aprender Sintiendo Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program into a new educational region in Puerto Rico, we are pleased to report meaningful progress toward this goal through an alternative funding source.

In July 2026, Fields of Joy secured funding from a private foundation in Puerto Rico, allowing us to move forward with the expansion of Aprender Sintiendo into the Ponce Educational Region of the Puerto Rico Department of Education, which encompasses twelve (12) municipalities.

With this support, Fields of Joy began delivering social-emotional learning workshops in elementary schools throughout the region in September 2026.

During September alone, the program reached 15 schools, directly impacting 976 students and 104 teachers and school personnel.

These workshops provide students with essential tools to recognize and manage their emotions, develop healthy relationships, and strengthen their social-emotional skills, while also engaging educators and school personnel in supporting students' emotional well-being.

Fields of Joy will continue visiting additional elementary schools throughout October, November, and December 2026, further expanding the program's reach across the region.

Although our fundraising efforts through GlobalGiving have not yet generated the support we had hoped for, our commitment to bringing social-emotional learning opportunities to more children across Puerto Rico remains unchanged. We are grateful for every contribution and for the continued interest in our mission.
