Four months ago, we posted a Fields of Joy project in the GlobalGiving platform. We sought to raise enough funds to provide social-emotional learning (SEL) in person workshops to students aged 10-13 in the public education system in Puerto Rico. The purpose was to provide public school students with an equal opportunity to learn emotional competence skills and strategies for emotional regulation, stress management, resilience, and the development of healthy relationships,
Unfortunately, we have not been able to raise the necessary funds to expand the project to a new educational region on Puerto Rico.
We know we have the capability to achieve positive results and impact around 4,500 students.
In September 2025, we launched "Aprender Sintiendo", in the public school system of the Bayamon Educational Region.
From September 2025 to March 2026, Fields of Joy visited 48 schools and impacted a total of 4,704 public school students aged 9-12 and 389 teachers, faculty and personnel.
As part of the evaluation process, 97% of teachers and faculty stated that they would recommend "Aprender Sintiendo" as a valuable social-emotional learning program for their students and school.
We seek to expand this program to other educational regions in Puerto Rico.
