Health Workers Prepare for Women's Health Fairs

Did you know that more than 1 in 4 women in Peru have cervical cancer? For a type of cancer that can so easily be prevented, that’s unacceptable, which is why we are working to change that!

In the last update, I told you about our first cervical cancer screening. This year we have the chance to reach so many more women! Next week, our health workers will participate in a special training with medical experts from CerviCusco (a local organization dedicated to preventing and treating cervical cancer) to get them ready for upcoming health fairs! At these fairs, women from our indigenous partner communities will receive free cervical cancer screening from CerviCusco while Sacred Valley Health women’s health promotoras run interactive educational stations about pap testing, cervical cancer, contraception and other critical women’s health topics. These fairs have been extremely successful and very popular in the past, and we are excited to extend this opportunity to even more women and communities this year.

On top of that, our Women’s Health promotoras have logged about 30 hours of training this year and made more than 600 house visits to teach other women what they are learning. And this is all possible thanks to you! I am so grateful to each of you for supporting these women, and I want you to know that your generosity truly makes a difference.

Gratefully yours,

Jenny
