Greenhouses & Gardens Supply Nutritious Meals

HaitiChildren (formerly Mercy & Sharing) has recently expanded and increased our sustainability efforts at our 17 acre campus in Williamson, Haiti.

We currently have 3 greenhouses and an outdoor garden at the campus. In the greenhouses we grow spinach, melons, and eggplant. Outside we grow melons, potatoes, lemon trees, banana trees, and more. We harvest the fruits and vegetables with the children's help of course. Our cooks are able to incorporate the harvest into our daily meals. Our greenhouses and gardens provide a wonderful learning experience along with contributing to our sustainability.

Future sustainability plans include the installation of solar panels, rainwater catchment, chicken coops, and raising livestock.

The pictures attached are of a recent potato harvest. The kids loved picking the potatoes and especially loved eating them!
