You are giving hope to abandoned children in Haiti! Thank you!
We are excited to announce that Mercy & Sharing is re-establishing the Abandoned Baby Triage Center! Mercy & Sharing operated the Abandoned Baby Triage Center at the HUEH (Haiti’s University and Educational Hospital) in Port-au-Prince from 1995 to 2010. We stepped in to help because little or no care was being provided for abandoned children at the HUEH. Kids of all ages with nowhere to turn were left to die in a small room. Because of Mercy & Sharing, hundreds of innocent children survived! Mercy & Sharing supplied clean water, baby formula, food, medicines, and beds to children who had been abandoned. Following the earthquake of 2010, the Abandoned Triage Center was discontinued when the building was damaged. 32 children were moved to a local children’s home as a part of the earthquake relief effort. Since the earthquake, however, this children’s home has not agreed to take in more children, nor has the Haitian government reinstituted the Abandoned Baby Triage Center. For over 2.5 years, children left on the grounds of the government hospital have had no one to care for them and no place to turn.
Mercy & Sharing has been asked by the Haitian Social Services to reinstitute the Abandoned Baby Triage Center! Mercy & Sharing will provide:
In addition to the re-opening of the ABTC, Mercy & Sharing is also making plans to expand the medical clinic at Mercy & Sharing Village. We want to continue to provide the best possible care for the 126 orphans living there as well as extend this care to the local community of Williamson. We plan to retrofit an ambulance and take it into the community to offer basic clinical services!
