The war in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is severely affecting civilian populations, but among them, one particularly vulnerable group faces distress that is often ignored: women and girls living with disabilities. These persons with disabilities are often the first to be forgotten; they suffer violence, forced displacement, and lack of access to basic services. Women and girls with disabilities in Masisi,nyiragongo,walikale,Rusturu ,lubero et goma Nord-Kivu face violence, displacement, exclusion, and lack of mobility support due to armed conflict and disasters. Many cannot access healthcare, education, protection, or humanitarian aid. Limited transportation and community support increase their vulnerability and social isolation.
This project will support women and girls with disabilities in Masisi,nyiragongo,walikale,Rusturu ,lube Nord-Kivu by improving mobility assistance, access to healthcare, education, protection, and humanitarian services. It will provide community awareness, psychosocial support, and inclusion activities to reduce discrimination and isolation. The project will also strengthen community solidarity and promote the rights and participation of persons with disabilities during conflict and emergencies.
In the long term, the project will improve the inclusion, safety, and independence of women and girls with disabilities in Masisi, Nord-Kivu. It will strengthen access to essential services, reduce discrimination, promote community support, and empower persons with disabilities to participate fully in social and economic life, even during conflicts and emergencies.
