While education is vital to development, challenges remain in terms of ensuring access to education for all. This is due to numerous challenges which include lack of funding. The Support Education in Zambia project as started to help raise the much needed funds to provide an education for gifted but disadvantaged children. So far the project has put girls into secondary school and has provided support for our literacy initiative which provides free English language lessons to out of school children and adults.
Twenty children aged between five and thirteen continue to receive free English language lessons as part of the project. A further twenty adults also benefit from the project. With funding, we hope to increase the number of girls receiving scholarship funding as well as the number of children and adults enrolled in English language lessons.
Given the challenges in meeting the fundraising targets, there is a need to increase our donor base as well as to attract recurring donations. To this effect we continue to encourage previous donors to share the project with their networks.
Our partnership with GlobalGiving plays a vital role in providing funding to support implementation of a number of initiatives and so while reaching fundraising goals is a constant challenge, we continue to seek alternative ways to increase the number of donors. We also continue to encourage current donors to continue their support of our work.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
