Education is the ultimate equalizer: providing opportunities for self advancement that would often not be possible without the benefit of formal education. Unfortunately millions, especially women and girls are left out even though they are often tasked with the responsibility of taking care of the household and studies show women tend to use their skills and resources for the care of the home. It is against this background that the project is focusing on providing educational funding to support to women and girls.
In addition to supporting and girls, the project will also provide training to teachers in an effort to improve teacher performance and learner outcomes.
Currently less than $600 has been raised towards the goal of $50,000. This presents a significant challenge in terms of achieving project objectives.
While funding is a challenge, the project has begun the selection process of 10 gifted but underprivileged girls to benefit from educational funding through annual scholarships.
We are currently exploring ways to increase the number of donations to support implementation. In addition to engaging GlobalGiving tools and resources we encourage previous donors and supporters to share the project with their networks and encourage them to support the work as well.
