GlobalGiving Project of the Month Club

Change doesn’t always arrive loudly. In Birgunj, Nepal, it has come through years of quiet persistence—through classrooms, safe beds, late-night helpline calls, and the belief that no child should be left to grow up on the streets.

This February, our Project of the Month Club grant is fueling this work through Our Sansar, an organization that has worked since 2013 to support children who live and work on the streets.

When the organization began its work, more than 150 children were sleeping on the streets of Birgunj. Today, that number has significantly decreased—an outcome shaped by years of steady, community-rooted care.

Despite the immense progress, many children still spend their days working or begging with their families, navigating poverty and risk from an early age. Our Sansar is determined to keep meeting these realities with care and consistency. Through its Children’s Home and Child Helpline, the organization provides shelter, education, protection, and family reunification whenever possible. Beyond residential care, the team works extensively in surrounding communities—offering classes to hundreds of children, helping them step away from street life and toward learning, stability, and possibility.

Safety is only the first step. With education, skills training, and long-term support, children can begin to imagine futures shaped not by survival, but by choice—futures where independence, dignity, and joy are possible.

Being named Project of the Month comes as a source of encouragement for the team behind this work.
