This May, we’re excited to share a critical project underway in regions of Cameroon that have been deeply impacted by the Anglophone Crisis. This conflict, marked by armed violence and human rights violations, has forced 900,000 people to flee internally and another 60,000 people to seek refuge abroad.
As countless families remain displaced and in distress, the need extends beyond basic essentials like food and shelter—there’s also a pressing call for support that nurtures their mental and emotional well-being. HUMANITY FIRST ASSOCIATION OF CLEANERS (HUFAC) is determined to help answer that call holistically.
Their featured project, Enhancing Mental Well-being for IDPs in Cameroon, is providing relief to affected families through a holistic approach that promotes emotional recovery and economic empowerment. They work closely with community members and local partners to identify the most urgent needs. Working closely with community members and local partners, they’ve identified the most pressing needs in these areas.
As part of their efforts, they’ve recently launched a Mental Health First Aid training program. This initiative will equip 20 local volunteers with the skills to recognize signs of trauma and provide essential emotional support to others in their community. Recognizing that emotional well-being is deeply tied to physical health and safety, HUFAC is also distributing food and hygiene kits, providing children with school materials and tuition support, helping families find safe shelter, and offering small startup capital to help displaced families begin rebuilding their lives.
ABI Henry Achah, Founder and CEO of HUFAC, wanted to share that their team is “Excited with sincere gratitude. This is a great opportunity for us to strengthen our efforts and of course extend our reach to more traumatized IDPs in far-to-reach communities.”
On behalf of the entire team, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our donors. Your contributions are not only providing immediate relief but are also empowering these communities to heal, rebuild, and move forward with hope.
Until June,
