Dear Project of the Month Club Member,
Cancer is a devastating diagnosis for anyone to receive. For young people, the stress that impacts their daily lives is immense, manifesting in anxiety, fear, and other behavioral changes.
That’s why Manos Unidas por Coatzacoalcos A.C. is working to provide positive reinforcement therapy techniques for young cancer patients through their project Play Center for 82 children with cancer in Mexico. By improving patients’ psychological health through games and creative activities, they hope to improve their self-esteem and quality of life. In turn, the physical benefits can help them through their treatment and recovery.
When Manos Unidas por Coatzacoalcos A.C.’s President Maritza Ambrosio Fernandez learned that their project had been selected as the September Project of the Month, she was grateful for the news. “In these very difficult times that civil society associations in Mexico are experiencing, it is truly great to have been chosen as a GlobalGiving's Project of the Month, since it helps us to achieve and succeed in our objectives thanks to your generous contribution,” she shared. “Millions of thanks!”
Your donation will support children and young people with cancer being treated at the Coatzacoalcos Regional Hospital. Martiza said these young patients will have a space “for recreation and assistance in playful and learning activities in some topics such as painting, weaving, programming, and design.” Transportation will also be provided so that the young patients can travel from their remote communities to the hospital for treatments and share the play space with other children and young people during their stay.
