1.Due to tough terrain few villages are difficult to reach. 2.For most part of the year families have to engage themselves in the collection of Non-Timber Forest Product and agricultural works in order to obtain a livelihood. Hence as they take their children along with them, absenteeism is an issue. 4.Almost 50% villages (Operational area) are Naxalite affected.
Once a girl is selected as a Nanhi Kali (the primary criteria for selection is poor, economic and social status), she receives academic support, material support (including stationery, school uniforms, shoes and personal hygiene material) and social support. The project ensures that all the Nanhi Kalis are regular in Academic Support Centers so that achieve grade specific learning. It is also communicated to the parents that the project will support the girl children's education till class 10.
