We are thrilled to announce that our water filter project is coming to fruition. On September 23, a team of volunteers from the United States will be meeting our Peruvian team on the ground in Cusco, Peru. There, they will meet with the Cusco Rotary, who will be accepting a donation of 48 double filter water units. Together, for the next 3 days, they will meet the families of three communities and install water filters in their homes. Communities we will service:
9/25 - Patacancha
9/26 - Challhua Ccocha
9/27 - Chupani
These communities are located high in the Andes Mountains and do not have access to electricity or other modern conveniences. We will use horses to bring the filters to communities, and camp at night in the mountains. Families live in one-room stone homes with dirt floors and rely on water from local streams to drink. This water is contaminated with bacteria such as e.coli and salmonella and causes makes them ill. Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to help these families have access to clean, potable water!
