In spite of the adverse economic and social conditions that Venezuela is going through, during 2018 more than 6,000 young people from popular communities in Venezuela were benefited through the technological, citizen and labor training programs offered by Superatec in the 21 training centers in Venezuela.

One of these young people is Ricardo, who studied the Computer Thinking Program. He is 16 years old and is in his 4th year of high school at the Mariano Picon Salas high school in Antímano, a large neighborhood located west of Caracas.

This course is designed to introduce the participant to computer programming, one of the most demanded careers in the 21st century, in addition to subjects related to personal growth, notions of the working environment and entrepreneurship, young people learn to use Scratch, a visual programming language developed at MIT Media Lab, whose main feature is that it allows the development of mental skills through learning programming without having deep knowledge of the code.
At the end of the period, a project fair was held where students presented the work developed during the quarter. It was a rewarding and empowering experience for the students  who were able to demostrate  to their families, sponsors, and community the new skills developed.
