It is time for our quarterly update on the Progeny project.
If we are honest, this period has been a little slow and challenging. Unfortunately, we were not successful in our Grant Application for Creative Capital. One of the major factors that may have inhibited our success was the fact that it is increasingly difficult to find funding from Grant Givers for works that have already been produced; most funding we qualify for is set aside for new projects. We also face a geographical challenge in that there is limited funding for the arts in Florida verses other States such as New York. Finally, because our Fiscal Sponsor is based in New York and our permanent address is in Florida we are often automatically disqualified from securing funding from either State. On one hand, securing New York Foundation for the Arts as our fiscal sponsor has added a certain kudos to Progeny, whilst on the other it has hampered the project's chances of securing funding in Florida.
Despite these challenges we remain persistent and confident in our ability to secure funding and to extend the life of the project. We are also working hard to overcome some of these challenges. The project has so much to offer in educating both young and old and connecting them to important issues such as the community and our environment. The Progeny Sound Installation is unique in it's ability to make an audience question their own role in contributing towards these issues whilst concurrently learning about one of the kingpins of the environment - the honeybee. The Progeny program of events and education help to facilitate this process of learning within a fun and inspirational setting.
Our aim is to facilitate Progeny’s first journey from Florida to an exhibition Premiere in New York. The journey will be documented by film and online media and form part of the premiere exhibition in New York. Publicizing this journey, alongside the exhibition, will serve as a launching pad for future exhibitions, creating longevity for the project. We are currently seeking to secure $10,000 which will help pay towards all aspects of the project including transport, staffing and undertaking the education program.
Global Giving has been a great platform for us to connect with donors on an individual basis. Thank you again for your support. We truly appreciate it.
Regards,
Luke and Bryce
