I flew back to New Smyrna Beach on September 2nd. Since then Bryce Hammond and I have been working flat out to get our installation built. After our original space in an Airport Hanger fell through, due to their facility being foreclosed, we had to find a new venue at speed in which to build our structure. Despite it not have air conditioning it makes for a great space to build our project in. Thankfully, we have had a team of people helping us to build Progeny. Not least, Sam Stewart, a supporter of our project and the man who kindly volunteered to cut 390 pieces of wood to custom size. We now have our floor frames built and all of the frames for the walls - 78 Frames all together. Next steps, will be to attach the walls to the flooring and insert the metal rods which are responsible for holding our structure in place. After which, we have to take it all down again before installing the sound equipment. Our aim is to have this done by the end of next week.
Our Education Program is in the final stages of planning. We are working with the Mike Curb College of Music, Entertainment & Art to participate in evening performances in both music and dance. We hope that the opportunity we are providing to perform inside our sound installation, at Atlantic Center for the Arts, will provide an aspirational setting for the students to collaborate, create and perform.
Our new website is due to be released shortly. Until then you can follow the project on facebook where we are uploading pictures as the project develops: https://www.facebook.com/progenyproject
