In countries like Uganda, poverty, illiteracy, early pregnancy, AIDS takes away the present, the self-esteem, the hope, the future, and the dreams of young girls. In an attempt to handle or escape from reality, it makes them to prostitute from very young and / or to use drugs to break away from the reality they live day after day, year after year, and often throughout their lives. And when they become pregnant at an early age and in need, they doom their children to the same fate.
By providing such support as well as professional skills such as seamstresses, cooks, hairdressers, cosmetologist, etc. not only does young girls' lives gain value and meaning, it also drives them away from the "lost" ones to start making concrete plans for the future - for themselves and their children. A major part of these girls are trained to become seamstresses. However, their available sewing machines are extremely insufficent and outdated, so with this project we will buy 20 new machines.
This project will change not only individual lives or whole families, but also gains social significance and long-term utility, as it leads to: reduction of sexual contacts and fertility; the spread of AIDS; raising income; taking responsibility for one's own life as well as that of children; building an acceptable standard of living that reflects on change in entire communities.
