Report 01: Productive Rural School

By Jesica Amescua and Mariana Ordonez | Founders of "Habitat Comunal y Vivienda A.C."

¡Hola donadores!

1. Instalar energía eléctrica y focos ecológicas en la primera aula (gracias a "In light we trust" por el donativo de focos y luminarias!)

Hello donors!

First of all, we want to thank you for the great collaboration you have made with the youth of the rural Baccalaureate of Tepetzintan and we are very excited to continue advancing to achieve the dream of young people: to build the first sustainable rural baccalaureate appropriate to the culture and tradition of the place.

So far, with your great support we have achieved the following goals:

1. Install electrical energy and ecological bulbs in the first classroom (thanks to "In light we trust" for the donation of bulbs and lights!)
2. Finish the partition structure of the second classroom.
3. Bamboo cutting to produce the structure of the roof (the villagers donated all the bamboo!)
4. Treatment and preservation of bamboo for its durability
4. I take the bamboo to school to start the production of the structure (great work of the students!)
5. Start of the bamboo structure for the roofing on site.

In addition, we want to tell you that young people have received three workshops:

1. Crafts and jewelry.
2. Vegetable gardens (they made the first crop of radishes!)
3. Bamboo cutting and treatment.

Which are the next steps? In the next report, we will be sharing the completion of the structure and the roof of the classroom so that it can be used.

Thank you for this great partnership and congratulations on what we have achieved together!
