The need to empower students with critical & creative thinking, in addition to core subjects, has never been more vital. Future Problem Solving (FPS) fills a gap in education by providing skills for tomorrow's leaders for solving real issues, while inspiring them to impact their world and the future! FPS students integrate skills of exploration, communication, and production as they collaborate virtually to apply high level problem solving and prepare for the rapidly changing workplace.
To provide problem solving globally, FPS developed a custom web application (ROCS) which reaches diverse populations through on-line collaborative work, submissions, and authentic assessment. Now an urgent need exists for an upgrade to support thousands of concurrent users as we continue to expand globally. To address this need, we are developing a new universal application that operates on current platforms and mobile devices/tablets, with multi-language capacity.
Support will enable FPS to reach more students of diverse backgrounds & connect students internationally as they collaborate and problem solve multiple issues and projects, modeling a global workplace platform. Donations will allow for long-distance projects such as students in Illinois working with those in Australia to combat bullying at 2 schools across the globe. Not only will skills be obtained & learning enhanced through feedback, but positive relationships can be formed between cultures.
With virtual interactions, students in diverse academic environments will have equitable access to our high-quality educational program and experts. Areas such as Turkey, India, Israel, Guatemala, and UAE are entering into FPS now. We must reach out to these areas with materials, training, and assessment. In the future, we can reach teachers and students without an FPS program, providing skills needed through our flexible, intuitive, and reliable web application.
