Moving Ahead

PAM is managing the Nestling Home for the Well Being of the 30 Prisoners’ Children with spacious, ventilated and safe rooms and bedding. Nutritious food including super flour in the mornings with tea, regular meat and eggs, green vegetables, legumes, etc. are served. Children have snacks and tea in the afternoon. Fourteen people from outside came to be with children. They usually come with some food. Every Saturday children get to have their choice of snacks. PAM’s agriculture land has now some fruit trees: avocado, dragon fruits, Gauva, pomegranate, lemon, grapes, etc.  which have started giving fruits. Spinach, beans, cabbage, Cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, beans, vegetables are there in the field. Rice will be harvested in the month of October. 300 egg laying chicken are raised in PAM.

PAM children (grade 9 and 11)  joined in person classes with safety measures but other children are still taking virtual classes. In this trimester one new laptop and two mobiles are added for using internet facilities to facilitate virtual classes. Three grade 11 children have already appeared in the final examination and now waiting for the result. The three new Secondary Education Certificate  passed children have joined 11th grade.

Regular use of gym, morning exercises; evening judo training are done for physical well-being. These were done keeping COVID situation into consideration. Inviting community children for judo, gym, and using library are not allowed because of corona. Every Friday, children rooms and surrondings are sanitized and disinfected. Regular publication of wall magazines, regular library use, computer and internet users are  available for mental development. Every Friday children and the staff have joint meetings run by the children where they make decisions about needs, plan activities for the week, etc. Two Psychologist gave coaching session of psychology to PAM kids and staff. The kids have been thinking more positively since the coaching session was held.

PAM Judo Dojo was selected for the Judo training camp for Olympics 2020 by Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC), National Sport Council and Nepal Judo Association (NJA). Representatives of Olympic Committee, President of Nepal Judo Association and Media people came to PAM to observe the training. The training was held between July 1st to July 15th. PAM Judo coach attended 2020 Olympics with the role of Nepal Judo Coach.  Olympics day was celebrated in PAM on 23rd June by hosting Olympic Day 2021 Judo friendly match. Olympic day is celebrated worldwide. Two PAM children joined the APF (Armed Police Forced) for employment. They were successful because they were good Judokas.

The area was originally an agricultural area. The original people (Tamangs) do some agricultural activities but in a very small scale because they do not have that much land left with them. After city planning there are houses all over with a little land available for agriculture. So there is need for developing organic agricultural activities which are possible in the roof top, flower pots or small patches of land. PAM plans to demonstrate some of these in its premises and provide training to those interacted and supply seeds, seedlings, mushrooms, one-month old chickens and quail, etc.  But because of corona it has not been started yet. Plastic mulching and organic greem liquid manure are initiated at PAM for demonstration.
