During this period, we accompanied 311 mothers and their families, convinced that preventing violence also means strengthening women's ability to make decisions, recognize their own value, and build opportunities for the future.
One of the most important milestones was the completion of our Financial Education module. Through participatory workshops, mothers reflected on the value of work, money management, saving, and the importance of setting shared family goals. Many began applying household budgets with their partners, improved their ability to distinguish between needs and expenses, and recognized the importance of discussing financial decisions openly within the family. They also came to see that their daily work—both inside and outside the home—has value and contributes to the well-being of their families and communities.
In May, we launched a pilot initiative called School for Work, where mothers and youth strengthened skills for employment, created or updated their résumés, and learned about free online training opportunities. As a result of Fundación Sembrar’s support and networking efforts, two mothers secured new job opportunities—one in retail sales and another in food services.
At the same time, we began our Parenting Skills module, focusing on authority and family relationships. Mothers reflected on the difference between authority and authoritarianism, shared experiences about raising their children, and recognized the importance of guiding through relationships rather than fear. Several expressed interest in continuing to deepen their understanding of parenting and family life.
Personalized support remained a cornerstone of our work. We maintained 91% coverage in home visits, followed up with 8 of the 9 previously identified victims of violence, and referred one mother to specialized support services. In addition, two mothers recognized that they were experiencing economic violence, an important step in identifying forms of abuse that often remain hidden.
Community activities—including family outings, a bingo gathering, and a Mother’s Day brunch—continued to strengthen relationships among participants. We also provided food baskets to 10 families facing economic hardship.
Sonia’s story reflects this journey. When she joined Fundación Sembrar in 2020, she lived with her husband and three children in a small space loaned by her father. She struggled to express her feelings, rarely asked for help, and depended financially on her husband and family. Today, she actively participates in program activities, manages her income more confidently, values her own work, and feels empowered to make decisions for the well-being and future of her children.
Thank you for helping women build safer, stronger, and more hopeful futures for their families.
