Continue support is ongoing to girls from single parent family for their education.

Once a girl is out of school, she is more vulnerable to child marriage and early pregnancy. Alternatively it is clear that child marriage often means the end to a girls’ formal education. Education can be one of the most powerful tools to enable girls to avoid child marriage and fulfill their potential. The longer a girl stays in school, the less likely she is to be married before the age of 18 and have children during her teenage years.

Prevention of girl child marriage is our aim of this project and having single parent is one of the factor of early marriages. Untimely loss of maternity or paternity is very traumatic and painful. In case of India and especially in rural community, loss of paternity means loss of support to life, collapsing dream world of Girl child. In this situation, girl child has to stay away from education and most of them have to face child marriage. From last two years, Grameen Vikas Lok Sanstha (PIRD) is taking efforts to collect donation from likeminded donors through GlobalGiving and offline donations  to complete at least higher secondary education (i.e. up to 12th Standard) of girls who are facing such situation.

We have helped 3 girls in fist year under this activity.  Last year the GlobalGiving support us to rise fund online through their  network and we have able to help 1o girls and we have rise more fund because of their  continue support and we have help to those 10 girls for the second year also. And we are happy to say, we have able to help another additional 5 girls during the last three months , means presently we are helping total 15 girls for continue their higher education to needy girls which are belong to single parent family.

These 15  girls are from Farmers and Farm labour category  and out of those 5 are OBC, 1 SC, 5 NT, 4 are from other category. Out of these 15, 10 girls are studying SSC, 3 HSC and 2 Graduate level educations. Still there are many more single parenting girls are having hopes to complete their education.
