Strengthening YDCA Liberia: Welcoming New Expertise to Advance Our Mission
At YDCA Liberia, we believe that creating lasting community impact requires more than good intentions.
It requires strong leadership, the right expertise, strategic partnerships, and the resources to turn ideas into meaningful action.
We are pleased to share an exciting development in our organizational growth: Mike, a former U.S. Army Military Police has committed his time, professional expertise, and experience to support YDCA Liberia as a volunteer, with a particular focus on strengthening YDCA financial sustainability, and fundraising capacity.
Mike brings extensive experience in international affairs, project management, infrastructure development, grant writing, and resource mobilization.
His professional journey began with the U.S. Army Military Police, where he served from 2006 to 2019, supporting international security initiatives and working with partners across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. During his career, he also helped hundreds of military students access university and professional training opportunities in the United States and Europe.
He holds two master's degrees: one in International Affairs and another in Infrastructure Planning and Management. Beyond his military career, he worked with an Australian company supporting irrigation improvements for farmers and businesses in the Western United States.
Of particular relevance to YDCA's growth, Mike has prepared more than 15 grant applications for clients who successfully secured funding from federal and state government sources. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and serves as Director of Sponsorship for his local.
Project Management Institute chapter.
Why does this matter to YDCA and the communities we serve?
Like many locally led nonprofit organizations, YDCA has meaningful programs, committed volunteers, and a clear vision for community development. However, limited financial resources and access to international funding opportunities continue to constrain the scale of our work.
Mike involvement represents an important step toward addressing these challenges.
Working alongside our leadership and Board of Directors, he will help us:
His contribution is not simply about helping YDCA raise more money. It is about helping us build the institutional capacity to manage resources effectively, attract long-term support, and deliver greater impact.
Our commitment to our donors remains unchanged: Every contribution, partnership, and act of support should move us closer to creating opportunities for children, empowering young people, and strengthening women and communities across Liberia.
We are grateful to Mike for believing in our mission and choosing to invest his time and knowledge in strengthening a locally led organization.
To our donors, partners, and supporters: Thank you for being part of this journey. We are not only working to expand our programs; we are building a stronger organization capable of sustaining and multiplying its impact.
Together, we are building a stronger YDCA for a greater impact.
