Orientation against Human Trafficking

June 28, 2019

The orientation program Against Human Trafficking went superbly well. HIMRIGHTS Makwanpur with support of GlobalGiving conducted a workshop in Shree Adharbhut School, ward number 6, Manahari Rural Municipality, with 29 children from grade 6-8, 17 girls and 12 boys. HIMRIGHTS Makwanpur Coordinator and the Principle of this school orientated the children on what is human trafficking, definition, foreign employment-unsafe migration- internal trafficking, exploitation including sexual in entertainment sector using pictorial education materials.  They also focused on what  children think of human trafficking and how they could prevent it. The children were asked to draw their understanding and what they could do to prevent for themselves and others.

The school usually has Friday extracurricular activity. However, this is the first of its kind. The Principle of this school said that the program was extremely effective and thanked both GlobalGiving and HIMRIGHTS for conducting this program in their school. He requested to continue to conduct this type of programs in his school.

The program was for four hours, HIMRIGHTS provided drawing paper, colors pencils, pencils, erasers, sharpeners for all the children and snacks including himrights staff and teachers. We took permission before taking any photographs of the children. They said there is no problem to put it in social media too. They were very excited to hold their drawings/artwork for photographs.

As part of this program we will continue to conduct in three more rural schools in this district  and also conduct follow up programs to prevent human trafficking in this district.
