Challenge

Just in Mexico there are 7,000 new cases of childhood and adolescent cancer each year, despite the efforts of medical personnel, government and society, Mexico has a 57% survivability rate. For a better and quicker healing it is necessary to have access to a healthy nutritional diet and even supplementation so that patients are strong enough to tolerate their treatment.

Solution

This project is focused on AMANC's Nutrition Project that helps the patients to prevent malnutrition by providing dietary supplementation, food pantries and three healthy meals a day per beneficiary. Also this project educates parents about healthful nutritional practices and habits during and after the disease for a better and quicker healing, as well as for a proper development for their children.

Long-Term Impact

Each year AMANC Mexico supports over 260 children and teenagers on oncological treatment. The impact that our Nutrition Program has had is a 0% abandonment treatment rate and to eradicate chronic malnutrition among the population of early childhood and school age.
