During the quarter June 2014 to September 2014, seven villages in the Ibimbo parish in Kyondo sub-county were targeted where 72 pregnant women accessed antenatal care services for their first, second and third time respectively in three different out reaches conducted on a monthly basis.

Pregnant women accessed preventative medicine, health education, and HIV/AIDS counselling and testing provided by qualified health workers. Local volunteer midwives conducted health education targeting expectant mothers.  Topics covered included eating a healthy and balanced diet to prepare the body for delivering a healthy baby; preventing malaria including dangers of contracting malaria while pregnant; and finally, family planning methods for both the mothers and other young women.
