Prevent Trafficking Through Literacy

Dear friends,

Hello from the Creative Life Foundation (CLF) team! For 34 women and girls, our literacy program is already making a positive impact in 2 villages. We wanted to take a moment to say thank you for investing in CLF and the women and girls you are helping through your generous support. 

With the pandemic still strong in Thailand, this was no easy task. We had to adjust our expectations with our timelines and adapt to the new challenges and barriers due to Covid-19, all while moving our mission forward.  

Since last December 2021

• Our team wrote job descriptions, new staff contracts, and procedures for enrolling women, tracking attendance, and monitoring their learning progress.
• We hired two teachers, one teacher per village. 
• We purchased educational materials needed for teaching, including whiteboards, Thai books, notebooks, and writing utensils for participants.
• In January 2022, 34 women and girls ages 12 to 54 signed up and began learning how to read and write.
• Our team researched and learned data-tracking/collection apps to help determine how many families in the villages we work in are stateless.
• Our project leader is working with village leaders to further understand the barriers hill tribe people face to receive citizenship. Our goal for this year is to help 20 families begin the application process.
