Prevent Sexual and Gender Violence in Colombia

Challenge

Sexual and gender-based violence is a critical issue in Colombia, affecting thousands of children and youth annually. Many live in communities where violence, exploitation, and abuse are normalized, leaving them vulnerable and without adequate protection. With limited access to education, mental health support, and prevention tools, survivors face lifelong consequences. Cultural norms and weak institutional support exacerbate the problem, perpetuating cycles of harm and silence.

Solution

This project will equip 3,750 children and youth in Colombia with self-protection tools, socio-emotional skills, and awareness to prevent sexual and gender-based violence. Parents and carers will learn nurturing techniques to create safer environments, while young leaders will be trained to advocate for rights and launch community campaigns. Care pathways will be established for survivors, offering psychosocial support and access to justice.

Long-Term Impact

This project will create a lasting impact by empowering children, youth, and their communities to break the cycle of sexual and gender-based violence. By equipping young leaders with advocacy skills and parents with nurturing tools, it fosters protective environments and sustainable community-driven change. Survivors gain access to vital care pathways, reducing long-term trauma. Over time, this approach builds safer, more resilient communities where children's rights are upheld.
