Uganda have made commendable effort to prevent and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Despite the remarkable effort, NCDs (Cancer, Diabetes, Heart diseases, chronic lung diseases, Hypertension, Asthma, Mental health ailments etc) continues to be major health problems in Uganda. The age-standardized mortality rate across four major NCDs was 709 per 100,000 in males and 506 in females in 2021. 33% of total deaths are due to NCDs hence due to linted access to prevention and control services.
NCDs not only affect people's health but they also negatively impact the socioeconomic development of countries by increasing the financial burden on the health system and through the loss of productivity of people who get ill or die too early. The envisaged long term project impact will include: Reduced mortally and morbidity rate, improved production among grass root communities and reduced expenditure on treatment of NCDs
