This year we continue to reinvent our work  to the lock down of Covid in Ecuador , Schools continue closed these months so we have had to do the majority of work online .
Our national radio program on prevention of sexual abuse for children that we did together with the Ministery of Education continues every week , and this is great because many children and  families in rural areas have access to this method of listening to our program.
Also , we are starting to  work with workers in the flower industry this semester , We are going to work with employees of Colour Republic in workshops related to gender equality , and prevention fo domestic violence .
We have done various seminars  online for the community on child abuse prevention and positive discipline . These seminars are done in our web pages and we  have had a lot of viewers on each one .
Azulado worked together with Cooperazione International  and Unicef  in a program of training trainers  on our program Mi Escudo and now they are working in communites in the border with Colombia with our kit Mi Escudo d and reported having great results .
We continue offering psychotherapy in our Foundation to  low income families and there has been and increase in demand in these last months .
We participated in the Keeping Children Safe congress in USA .
We are preparing to begin in September live classes again in schools and already have a list of schools in Quito and outside of Quito  where we will begin our program.
Azulado and Universidad San Francisco de Quito have finished their first 3 month online course in the training of Mi Escudo for psychologists ,teachers , social workers and pediatricians .
We have done two more course on Circle of Security with parents online and  are now offering our third course .

We started working with 6 schools in Pichincha area in Ecuador this year with our program mi Escudo that works prevention of sexual abuse . We went for two months and then stopped going because of shut down of schools because of Covid 19 and quarantine . The same problem happened with our live therapies in our offices with psychologists working with children and families .

So this year we have reinvented our work and had new projects continuing in our line and our cause of child abuse prevention.

We started working in mental health programs with the police of Ecuador . And support groups to all the police .

The project was the following :

HEALTHY COMMUNITY  STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Domestic violence and child sexual abuse are serious problems in Ecuador and the rest of the world. The mandatory quarantine has caused a surge in cases of violence, as family members who live with an abuser are not able to leave their home nor seek assistance.

The National Police respond to calls about domestic violence and are subjected to difficult and painful situations. During the months of March and April, the police received 7,954 emergency calls related to domestic violence.

Police involvement in cases of domestic violence not only exposes them to the corona virus, it raises their on-the-job stress and anxiety levels. This can cause exhaustion, fatigue and emotional stress, which can affect their job performance in stopping violence.

Fundacion Azulado, in working towards the prevention of violence, has developed a project together with the National Police to provide emotional support to officers who come to the aid of the most vulnerable in Ecuador. This includes individual and group psychological accompaniment and assistance for the police officers who find themselves in the first line of defense.

Also , we have worked with the Ministery of Education in programs of helping teachers of low income preschools in the area of Pichincha with a program called Circle of Security , working themes of emotional bonding teachers and students , this was done online and we are continuing working with more schools these coming months .

We continue now to offer online therapy to low income children and families in emotional issues . We have 10 psychologists attending families. We are over 220 cases attended since the beginning of the month.

We are working to offer our online program of mi Escudo now in Ecuador , so we can attend children, teachers and families these months with our program in elementary low income schools ..

Dear friends,

I hope this email finds you well

We want to thank you for your your kind heart, your support and trust have made a big difference in our community.

Due to the crisis we are currently facing we have had to stop our regular activities and make a lot of temporary changes.

95% of the families that attend our partner foundations have lost their jobs and are struggling with having nothing to feed their children or how to pay rent and utilities.

For this reason we have created our food project, and with the support of other  community organizations, we send non perishables to the families that need it the most.

Every Friday they get rice, beans, milk, oatmeal, lentis, tuna, and many other products that will allow a family of up to 5 members to eat for a week.

We consider that since we have had to pause our regular services due to de COVID 19, we needed to make sure our children and teenagers can stay at home having something to fill their tummies with, they want to thank you with their hearts, you make them smile and give them hope!

We can't wait to go back to  the activities that you initially support, but we wanted you to know  we are being able to make a difference in the community  because of you.

Please stay safe and healthy!

Thank you for your trust and support,
