Every year in Colombia, more than 20,000 cases of suspected sexual abuse are reported.
Behind each number is a child whose sense of safety has been shattered, a family struggling to cope, and a future that hangs in the balance.
Even more heartbreaking, approximately 85% of the victims are children and adolescents—young lives that should be filled with learning, play, and hope, not fear and trauma.
Perhaps the most painful reality is that more than 70% of these cases occur within the child's own circle of trust: family members, relatives, neighbors, or people they know and depend on. The very places that should provide protection often become the source of profound harm.
The effects of sexual abuse do not end when the abuse stops. Many children continue to suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulties in school, and challenges in building healthy relationships. Without timely support, these invisible wounds can last a lifetime.
At Fundación Paula Cristina, we believe that every child deserves to heal, to feel safe, and to dream again. Through prevention programs, psychological support, family strengthening, and safe spaces, we help children and families rebuild their lives after trauma.
Your support can help transform fear into hope, silence into healing, and pain into resilience.
Together, we can protect children, prevent abuse, and ensure that no child has to face this journey alone.
Donate today and help us give vulnerable children the safety, care, and opportunity they deserve.
