Dear Friends,
In our commitment to providing free and quality primary health care services to residents of Oyo State, we are pleased to introduce the first TWO “See and Treat” cervical clinics thanks to our partner- Cure Cervical Cancer organization. Cure Cervical Cancer is a non-profit organization dedicated to the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer around the world. They have screened/treated 25000 women across countries such as Kenya, Haiti, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Guatemala.
Dr Abiola Kila and Toyin Akinfenwa of ABC medical Foundation visited CCC in California, USA for training and certification on the “See and Treat” procedure. CCC provided equipment to establish two clinics and these were made possible thanks to their generous donors- The Ace Clinic made possible by Jack and Michelle Giarraputo; The Sheila, Nico and Sofia Clinic made possible by Dr Jennifer Lang and her husband Peter Micelli.
Dr Jennifer Lang of CCC led the training on the ‘See and Treat’ procedure over three days. The training included lectures, practical work and assessment. The ‘See and Treat’ procedure is an ideal and effective screening and treatment technique for pre-cancerous cervical cells in low resource settings such as Nigeria. Thanks to the training, donations made by CCC and the donations of our supporters and friends, women that have previously been screened by the Foundation can now receive treatment. The Ace Clinic and The Sheila, Nico, and Sofia Clinic will also provide continuous free cervical screening and treatment to women in Ibadan, Nigeria.
