Dear Friends and Supporters,
At the time of our last report, the Wa Regional Hospital was currently in the process of looking for and hiring a new OBGYN physician. We're excited to let you know that a new OBGYN has now been hired and will soon start work at the Wa Regional Hospital! The hospital was forced to look for a new physician after Dr. Fofie, the current OBGYN at the Wa Hospital and our partner in the cervical cancer program, suffered a car accident that has left his eyesight hindered. We are happy to report that although he is still awaiting a series of surgeries, Dr. Fofie continues to steadily recover and remains very excited about the cervical cancer program.
We are currently in the midst of getting in touch with the new physician and hope that once his employment officially begins at the hospital we will soon be able to set up a time to order and deliver the first set of supplies to begin the cervical cancer screening and treatment program. We expect our first purchases will be the diathermy machine and cryotherapy sets as these are the most urgently needed to begin treating women for cervical cancer.
We are so happy that the cervical cancer program will soon be underway and expect that things will begin to move much more quickly from here on. In the meantime, we also wanted to let you know that the next Matching Day with Global Giving is coming up on Wednesday, July 16th. Donations will be matched at 30%, starting at 9am and going until the matching funds run out so it’s best to give early! This is the perfect opportunity to see your donation make a larger impact and enables us to purchase more supplies for the cervical cancer program.
Thank you for your patience and continued support of this important and much needed program! As always we are open to comments, questions, or suggestions and you can reach me directly at director@medplusconnect.org.
Thank you,
Anna LeViere
