Your support through Global Giving has helped us to get closer to the flood victims of Chennai.
The funds received so far was utilized to meet out the immediate needs of the community affected by the floods. Towards the long term impact of the project, a detailed survey was conducted among the targeted beneficiaries women-headed families who are widows, destitute, aged, women with disabilities, women whose husbands have drinking problems and children of these women.
The survey outlined questions about their personal information, income levels, health, details on damaged structures, requirements, etc. This primary face-to-face survey conducted prior to the project initiation will help us to narrow down the number of most deserving beneficiaries to be supported under the project as well as to have accurate screening of the target population.
Our next step will be organizing of awareness camps to the women community followed by the other activities like renovation of damaged structures and issue of educational materials to school children.
