On the outset, we wish to thank all the donors who have contributed to the project “ Successive Journey on Disaster Preparedness. But for them, not this many number of the of the target community of slum dwellers would have been trained on disaster preparedness in the city of Chennai. While informing the conclusion of the current project, we also wish to bring to the kind information of our donors the following.
Even while our project is being implemented, a vast majority of the these poor slum dwellers are being shifted from their traditional places of habitations that were in the city centre by the government to faraway places. They are now moved from the horizontal pattern of habitation to that of vertical one in cramped flats.
And this new reality of shifting of dwelling place has led to newer problems. This has necessitated us to go in for need assessment of the community of slum dwellers in the new habitation. The need assessment has been going on about the new challenges being faced by the community, and we hope to complete the same in a period of 30 to 40 days.
On concluding this report we wish to again thank the donrs, while informing the closure of the current project.
Thank you all donors.
