SGVS project will save the lives of 50 single mothers and their infants, by providing a home, nutrition, healthcare and love to these marginalized members of India's untouchable caste.
A highly Schedule caste area, Arwal, Bihar, is the most impoverished region of India and has one of the highest maternal/infant mortality rates in the country. Reasons behind purposive selection of this area are Very poor health infrastructure, poor performance of the health service/institutional delivery mechanism, High dependence of the people living in this block on quacks and traditional system of medicines especially in treating the RCH cases.
Providing pre-natal care, promote safe delivery practices, Sensitization of community and awareness generation and immunizations ensures healthy mothers and children.
The project will provide pre-natal care, promote safe delivery practices allowing them to rise from poor performance of health services in rural areas, which will provide for their families' health and well-being.
