Imagine healthcare led by those who know their communities best. In Nairobi's informal settlements, 11 grassroots organizations are uniting to support outreach, treatment access, disability inclusion, and wellness education. Together, they'll reach over 10,000 people, delivering essential care, health screenings, and renewed hope where it's needed most.
In Nairobi's informal settlements of Mlolongo, Baba Dogo, and Mukuru, over 2 million residents struggle to access basic healthcare. Public clinics are few and overstretched, while private care is unaffordable for families living on less than $2 a day. Global health funding cuts of $4.5 billion have worsened the crisis. This project supports 11 grassroots organizations already embedded in these communities to restore vital health services and hope.
This project unites 11 grassroots organizations through the Kenya Local Coalition Accelerator to deliver frontline health services to vulnerable groups. This community-led approach ensures care is locally owned and responsive to real needs. Funds will support outreach, treatment access, disability inclusion and wellness education directly within Nairobi's informal settlements.
This project strengthens community health systems in Nairobi's informal settlements, giving over 10,000 people including women, youth, persons with disabilities, migrants, and other underserved groups, consistent access to healthcare, wellness education, and support. It also builds local capacity, reduces donor dependency, and empowers grassroots organizations to sustain equitable healthcare for years to come.
