POVIR educational platform, www.povir.in.ua, is aimed at helping Ukrainian kids to bridge learning gaps and navigate challenges. Due to disruptions in schooling caused by covid and now the war, most students have been lagging in learning and feeling unable to change it. POVIR connects students with teachers who empower them and help them cope: subject trainers to catch up in key subjects, and social and emotional learning (SEL) teachers to develop resiliency and better operate amid uncertainty.
russia's military aggression against Ukraine and COVID-19 have significantly contributed to widening educational gaps among school students, a fact proven by research. Over the years of war, many Ukrainian students have either been unable to attend their schools or ended up in unsafe learning environments. Therefore, there's a clear need to have new, safe, technology-driven support systems for students that enable enhanced interactive communication with educators who can help them catch up.
POVIR educational platform is a solution aimed to serve as a "third place," in addition to school and home, where students can learn and grow despite challenges. On POVIR, students from middle & high schools work with proficient educators in a secure, friendly, and gamified online environment. In addition to subject teachers, students have sessions with social & emotional learning (SEL) educators who help them develop "life skills" to learn and work amid stress and uncertainties.
POVIR equips students with tools to overcome learning challenges: (1) supports their self-confidence by helping to make progress in key subjects, (2) strengthens their agency by allowing to make own learning decisions and be responsible for the outcomes, (3) gives self-support & stress management tools (SEL skills) to better handle uncertainties of the future. By strengthening thousands of students across Ukraine, POVIR will create a cumulative and lasting impact on the future generation.
