We will considerably reduce bullying and violence in Morelos, Mexico's "La Buena Tierra" school, through a program addressed to three groups of 12 children from ages 4 to 7, who will influence the whole school by enhancing their ethical development to become more compassionate, empathic and wise persons.
40% of elementary students in Mexico are victims of bullying and discrimination.Among children and young adults living in Mexico`s marginated and low-income areas, there has been a dramatic increase in the levels of violence, aggressiveness and egocentric attitudes and interactions with the world around them. Growing up in this hostile environment affects their self esteem and can lead to severe psychological issues. In this context, values can't be set with ease and learning takes a second role
The program is targeted for children ages 4 to 7, when neurological maturity allows compassion, wisdom and empathy skills to develop, in order to stimulate assertive communication, mediating and a balanced self esteem; all of which will impact positively in their social development and will guide children's abilities to be compassionate and empathic individuals. The program is applied through games, debates, projects, meditation, Tai Chi and simulators.
The program has a life span of three years after which it has a snowball effect as the children become mentors to the new generations, while constantly reaffirming their own learning and practices. Growing new generations of children with positive attributes will counteract the social alienation problem and create a ripple effect in the way they relate to each other and the world, achieving a higher level of awareness, resilience and a natural tendency to look for common well being.
