I want to share with you four of the 26 primary school teachers whose training you, our GG partners, are supporting this year. These young women, all from villages in northern Burkina Faso, are grateful to be given the opportunity to be trained as primary school teachers. Because their parents are subsistence farmers, they had no avenue but their scholarships to receive this training.
This project has been spectacularly successful: 30 of our 78 scholarship recipients have graduated and are teaching and 48 are currently in training. 100% success to date.
This holiday season is a particularly good time to support young village women who aspire to become primary school teachers in Burkina. During GlobalGiving’s Year-End Campaign, $10,000 in bonus grants are available beginning December 1 and running through December 31. To qualify for bonuses, we must raise at least $3,000 from 30 donors. Recurrent donations initiated before December 1 this year do not qualify.
We are looking to increase the number of scholarships for primary school teacher training to 35 next year. We hope that you will share our goal. Through GlobalGiving, you may make your donation in honor of a family member, special friend or colleague. Your support for primary school teacher training in Burkina enables the government to extend primary school education to more and more village children.
Thank you for your support for these dedicated young women.
