In the past 3 years, 33 village girls who have completed secondary school have received scholarships from Friends of Burkina Faso. These scholarships have enabled them to continue their studies in primary school teacher training, nursing and midwifery training and at the university. Thanks to the seriousness with which our partner NGO and government authorities in Burkina Faso take the selection process, coupled with the hard work of the young women that have been selected, 100% of these young women have either successfully completed their training programs or are currently proceeding successfully in their training. These training opportunities enable young village women to develop useful skills and to pursue professions that contribute to their society.
For every secondary school graduate who receives one of our scholarships in northern Burkina Faso, there are many more qualified girls who must return to their villages due only to the lack of funds to continue their studies.
March 13 is Bonus Day! Donations will be matched by 30% as long as funds last. Please save the date, donate early in the day, and automatically increase the value of your generous donation to next year's secondary graduates selected for training in northern Burkina Faso.
As always, our sincere thanks for your past and continuing support of these girls.
