“Education is the foundation of all development of human beings” says Raicha, a first-year primary school teacher trainee. “My love for children has motivated me to embrace this career of teaching. To help to develop children’s minds through teaching them is my greatest wish. To develop their capacity to reason and become responsible through education is to contribute to capacity of the future generation.”
“I must also say that without this scholarship and opportunity to become a teacher, I would have had to return to my village at the end of secondary school and become the second or third wife to an old man.”
“My most sincere gratitude for your generous support.”
Amnatou lost both of her parents at an early age. As a resilient and focused child, she completed secondary school and qualified for a teacher training scholarship. Amnatou chose teaching as a noble and respected profession. She views her opportunity to become a primary school teacher as “a dream come true from a very early age. I love the innocence and eagerness of young children to learn. I see myself as their teacher, older sister and mother – in short, as someone committed to their development on all levels. My task is to help them become responsible adults tomorrow.”
For these two very grateful young women, teaching is more than a profession. It is a commitment to the education and development of future generations of children.
We thank you for your past and continued support for the postsecondary training of deserving young women like Raicha and Amnatou who are committed to doing all they can to contribute to the education and development of future generations in Burkina Faso.
