GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Male patient of 49 years of chronological age with a diagnosis of moderate ASD comorbid with expressive aphasia and scoliosis, who presented, last year, warning signs of a depressive episode after sociocultural deprivation caused by the pandemic, which hindered regular development in their daily activities and generated a destabilizing and stressful dynamic for the family; who in turn are limited in the strategies of containment and accompaniment that they could offer Dian to face this situation.
It should be noted that Dian is part of a nuclear family made up of her parents and siblings, residing with her mother (elderly) and a younger sister, who is the breadwinner and legal representative of Dian, which limits the support networks available to program participants, placing them in a situation of vulnerability when institutional support is lacking.
ESTABLISHED GOALS
Stimulate Executive Functions through the TEACCH methodology to enhance socio-adaptation.
Establish an alternative means of communication to facilitate their social inclusion.
Increase preparations for the development of activities of daily living.
Offer spaces for interaction with peers and authority figures to consolidate social skills according to their level of functioning.
EVOLUTION
After resuming regular participation in the interdisciplinary program, through the renewal of her scholarship, Dian began to stabilize her mood, being in tune with the dynamics of the environment and her facial expression, reducing affective flattening and depressive warning signs. recovering the motivation and spontaneity to carry out activities both within the institution and at home; expressing satisfaction and interest in significant learning experiences and interacting voluntarily with peers and authority figures, offering support in routine tasks (ordering, cleaning, moving around in space, etc.), showing willingness and collaboration to explore vocational areas and becoming in a partial leader for his companions due to his habitually affable, obedient, willing and spontaneous behavior that continues until the present moment.
Similarly, Dian shows an increase in her self-esteem as a result of the stimulation of personal autonomy, where she has gained autonomy skills, compensating for her weaknesses and strengthening basic skills, which reduce her need for assistance from third parties and although she requires supervision in her activities of daily life, provides you with greater security and participation in your personal habits, generating greater enjoyment and security in these daily areas. which favorably affects family dynamics, optimizing care between members, offering gratifying vicarious experiences for caregivers, reducing emotional and physical exhaustion and reducing the risk of accidents generated by assistance.
ACHIEVED GOALS
Establishment of an individualized means of communication through an image exchange booklet and strengthening of non-verbal cues.
Consolidation of the primary sequence of self-care, reducing the need for assistance.
Start supporting colleagues in collective activities such as eating habits, serial work on manual products and sports activities.
Spontaneous participation in extracurricular activities such as plastic arts workshops, cooperative games, recreation, performing arts, among others.
Increase displacement and collaboration in simple vocational responsibilities within supervised areas of the institution.
SYNTHESIS
Since the beginning of the individualized interdisciplinary program within Autismo Dejando Huella, Dian Carlos has been able to significantly increase her quality of life and that of her loved ones, including close members of the community, restoring her emotional health, slowing down the effects of aging on her of functioning, gaining significant learning experiences that provide greater fullness and skills to their adult stage, contributing to their socio-affective stability, preservation of functions, compensating for their difficulties, slowing down the effects of typical aging and generating cognitive reserves to prevent as far as possible comorbidities associated with age. In the same way, the therapeutic approach and the progress of Dian Carlos has led to an increase in family harmony and It has become an example for other neurodiverse families, who have joined the institutional program in search of increasing their living conditions and socio-affective stability.
