Last year’s 2023 global campaign for POP-UP featured “Color my heart” activity. It celebrated emotional literacy and was widely shared through the volunteer network. Over 2500 participants joined in the campaign. The children’s artwork was shared in the end of the year video.
There were photos from students in Ukraine, kids (and pets!) in Japan, families in China, even a police officer participated at the local park. So many volunteers shared the “Color my heart” activity that has become the most popular POP-UP Festival activity to date.
This year we are very excited to announce POP-UP Festival is coordinating a 2024 global campaign called “Climate in your hand.” This activity highlights our work on SDG 13 for climate action. It encourages participants to identify their feelings about climate and supports them to transform their feelings and take action.
POP-UP Festival wants to prioritize youth wellbeing and climate based on a new report from UNICEF USA titled "From Eco-Anxiety to Eco-Optimism." The report explores how youth view climate change today, their emotional and practical approaches to dealing with it, and what they demand more of to drive meaningful and attainable change
Findings include:
57% of global youth are "Eco- Anxious"
More that 1 in 3 youth surveyed experience high levels of anxiety about climate change.
