The Pope Francis Center provides life saving services with love and dignity for the homeless in downtown Detroit. The Pope Francis Center has modified their operations. The center is offering pre-boxed meals, 24 hour access to restrooms and outdoor wash stations. and heated tents. In addition to food and warmth, the staff is taking peoples' temperatures and checking for signs of COVID-19.
As downtown Detroit shutter its doors, those suffering from homelessness are left with few options for food and shelter. At a time when hygiene is critical to survival, Detroit's homeless are left with even fewer options for restrooms.
The Pope Francis Center will continue to provide the much-needed services to the community during the COVID-19 outbreak. We have modified our program to be completely outside and accessible to all who need our help with food and medical attention.
The Pope Francis Center will stay committed to protecting the men and women who have no other resources. With the help from our community, we will survive this pandemic.
