Vets With A Mission is pleased to share two wonderful developments concerning the polio project.
Because of donations received after Christmas and today, the project goal of $18,350 was surpassed at $18,355! THANK YOU. Nearly 100 individuals made gifts to make this happen. While VWAM is happy, it is those polio-stricken men and women who are the happiest.
The homes have been renovated, and through outstanding project management, there is a small surplus of funds that can be applied to another home of the last polio victim. She is "Thao" and has been the point-man (I mean point-woman) on the project. She was the person responsible for accountability of funds, supervision of the construction, materials, etc. She lives alone but her home is also in need of some repairs. But she never asked and never even hinted about her needs. She was totally, unselfishly focused on helping the other men and woman.
But VWAM learned about her situation through a third-party when Chuck (Ward), VWAM's Executive Director and Bob (Peragallo), VWAM's Chairman of the Board, made on on-site visit December 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. They insisted she take them to her house after visiting the completed polio project. It was then they eye-balled her situation and saw her circumstances. Now that the project is completed, and some funds are left-over, those surpus monies will be applied to make renovations and repairs at Thao's house. And they are just enough to get the job done.
This is an unexpected blessing, and Vets With A Mission is so excited to be able to assist another deserving polio-victim, one VWAM met almost thirty-six years ago.
Thank you for your help, because without it, none of this would have ever happened. God bless you...
