No doubt natural calamities bringing a lot of miseries in the lives of affected people. They face numerous issues and challenges, the same brough by the heavy rain flood of 2020 in Village Abdul Karim Khaskheli as the flood caused a mega flooding which completely displaced whole village population from their homes and the village also. Village Abdul Karim Khaskheli like other hundreds of the villages and the communities lost their homes, crops, roads as well as animals perished. An average, the depth of rain water was around 5 to 6 feet in the village and the agricultural lands as well as farmhouses. In village many homes collapsed particularly the source of water and sanitation. We could not pick up the utensils and basic items of daily need. The rain water proved a nursery for the mosquito and it was impossible to take rest in night time even before the sunset. In this situation, there were four dire and most felt needs like latrines, clean drinking water, utensils and mosquito nets including soaps and hygiene items for women, children, elderly persons and people with disabilities. The whole village community came on the road sides and set to live there.
Indeed, these were the fortunate moments and more than blessing for our village community that Advocacy, Research, Training and Services (ARTS) Foundation team reached to our tent city in which our village community was residing. ARTS Foundation extended its support by providing the hygiene kits consisting on Mosquito Nets, Soaps, Jerry Can for drinking Water, Tarpaulin Sheet, Pads for Women and Girls along this ARTS Foundation team provided Temporary Latrines to us which brought safety for women, children, elderly persons and people with disabilities, this support made al clean environment around us to live healthy. We were facing a major issue of safe drinking water as being an orphan girl as well as household head from the displaced community. ARTS Foundation made it convenient for us by providing us drinking water through the Tankers.
I am Fatima, an orphan girl of the age of 15 resident of Village Abdul Karim Khaskheli. I am very thankful to ARTS Foundation as well as the generous support made from individual philanthropists under the umbrella of GlobalGiving as they reached to us and provided very needed support in a sensitive time and the conditions. I hope individual philanthropists of this generous online funding raising plate form will continue their philanthropy to bring easiness in the lives of flood affected communities, particularly the women headed households.
