I am Lachmi, a widow of age 57 resident of Village Ramshi Kolhi which is located in Union Council Mir Khuda Bux Taluka Dighri and District Mirpurkhas in Sindh province of Pakistan.
The heavy rain flood 2020 caused a mega flooding in our Village Ramshi Kolhi which completely displaced who village population from their homes as well as from the village. Like other hundreds of villages and the communities, heavy monsoon rain damage to crops, roads and animals perished. There was deep water having depth of 5 to 6 feet in the houses and crops. In village many houses collapsed particularly the source of water and sanitation. We could not pick up the utensils and basic items of daily need. The rain water proved a nursery for the mosquito and it was impossible to take rest in night time even before the sunset. In this situation, there were four dire and most felt needs like latrines, clean drinking water, utensils and mosquito nets including soaps and hygiene items for women, children, elderly persons and people with disabilities.
No doubt, it was more than blessing for us that Advocacy, Research, Training and Services (ARTS) Foundation teams reached at our village and extended their support by providing the hygiene kits consisting on Mosquito Nets, Soaps, Jerry Can for drinking Water, Tarpaulin Sheet, Pads for Women and Girls along this ARTS Foundation team provided Temporary Latrines to us which brought safety for women, children, elderly persons and people with disabilities, this support made al clean environment around us to live healthy.
I am very thankful to ARTS Foundation as well as the generous support made from individual philanthropists under the umbrella of GlobalGiving as they reached to us and provided very needed support in a sensitive time and the conditions. I hope individual philanthropists this generous online funding and support will remain continue to bring easiness in the lives of flood 2020 affected communities.
